Who is Mick Fanning?

Mick Fanning is an Australian professional surfer, he was Born on June 13, 1981, in the town of Penrith, in the district of New South Wales, Australia, Mick Eugene Fanning was the fourth child born to his parents. When he was just three years old, his mother divorced his father and, together with his three older brothers, Fanning moved to the Gold Coast, in northern Australia.

In the year of his seventeenth birthday, Mick grieved the loss of one of his brothers to a car accident. And, in 2015, the surfer went through one of his most difficult years. Mick was attacked by a shark on the J-Bay stage, lost his second oldest brother, and also got divorced from a ten-year relationship.

Career

The first time Fanning appeared under the WSL, formerly ASP, the spotlight was on the 2002 tour, where he surfed alongside names like Slater, Irons, and Machado, among others. His performance that season earned him Rookie of the Year honors after a fifth-place finish, and in 2004 he moved up one place in the final rankings – ending the year as No. who injured his knee.
